Update September 2008!
September 9th 2008
Seems like its time for another of my extremely occasional blogs here. Its been six months and boy how we've grown. With over 1300 alternate names, a bunch of new sources and references and good old Nyarlathotep predictably being the first to break the "I've got over a hundred names all of my own" record.
The last few weeks in particular have seen some very rapid growth with a huge tide of brilliantly creative names submitted by - well, I can only guess its a whole host of folks - either that or the undying spirit of the great HPL himself has been guiding the hand of a solitary and incredibly productive person. Whoever you are - Thanks for making the Book of Alt Names a useful resource for others to enjoy!
I'm going to throw a couple plugs in here this time. First for the Whisperer In Darkness movie from those ever so clever fellows over at the HPL History Society. Check out that trailer!
Second for Yog-Sothoth.com - bottomless mine of discussion, info, audio and all things related to Call of Cthulhu roleplaying. They're putting together a terrific DVD-ROM which'll be available soon and is packed full of CoC audiogame recordings, interviews and artwork. You can read more about it over on the site and even chip in with bonus content if you're feeling creative.
Lastly, over at Arkhamsoft, my buddy Quin has recently put out the latest release in his Lovecraft-inspired series of UT99 and Half-Life 2 video game mods called "The Intern's Story". This latest is a lavish Half-Life 2 remake and expansion upon the original UT99 version. If you have a copy of Half-Life 2, The Intern's Story is free to download and play.
